From Story County Watchman March 27, 1896

On Friday of last week word was received by Mr. Ed. Pierce of south-east Grant that his son-in-law O. E. Pearson had been killed the evening before and he and his wife and son Ed. and wife went down to Des Moines and attended the funeral which came off on Sunday. The family are quite well known in Nevada and their many friends extend to them their sympathy in this hour of trial. The death was the result of difficulty with a couple of parties by the name of Wilcox who are under the authority of the coroners' jury held to the grand jury for manslaughter. Mr. P. leaves a widow and three children.
