From Story County Watchman February 21, 1896

J. W. Ambrose was called to Oregon, Ill., the last of the week by the illness of his father, who has died and was buried on Monday of this week. His age was 86 years. J. P. Ellicott and wife accompanied him there and all will return in a short time. Mrs. Ambrose expects to come this them and make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ellicott, in the future. Mr. Ambrose has been in this place quite a number of times and is favorably known to many here and in Sherman township, all of whom will remember him with regrets of his departure to the better land.
