DEATH OF MR. WARTMAN.--Mr. Schuyler Sibley Wartman, whose serious illness has been noted in these columns during the past month died at his home in Algona last Saturday evening. His sufferings during the last week were intense, and he was frequently delirious. He had suffered from nervous prostration for some five years and lately he was attacked with hemorrhage of the lungs which hastened his death. Mr. Wartman was born at Glenvale, near Kingston, Ontario, April 8th 1835, and was thus a few months under 60 years of age. He was married at Newburgh, Ontario, in 1860, to Miss Maggie Clancy. In 1864 Mr. and Mrs. W., removed to Kankakee, Ill., where they remained until 1881, when they came to Kossuth Co., where Mr. Wartman engaged in the mercantile business in which he continued until compelled to abandon it by the failure of his health in 1889. He then invested his property in lands in Northern Kossuth. Prior to settling in Algona last year in Marshalltown and Ames about one year and a half. During the past season Mr. W., gave his almost exclusive attention to the erection of a handsome residence on McGregor St., where the family now reside. Mr. Wartman united with the M. E. Church when 25 years of age and was a consistent adherent of the Christian faith during his whole after life. Mr. and Mrs. Wartman had four children who with the widow survive him; Mrs. L. D. Drake, Misses Zoa and Luella, and Frank. The funeral was held from the residence on Monday afternoon, Rev. A. V. Gorrell, Rector of St. Thomas' Parish and a warm personal friend, conducting the services. A large number of neighbors and friends were in attendance.--Algona Republican.
