From Story County Watchman June 15, 1894

CAMBRIDGE, Iowa, June 13.--Chris Halterman was killed by an extra going west, Henry Ward, conductor, at a point six miles west of here at 7:30 last night. He was somewhat intoxicated and was walking the Milwaukee tract in an easterly direction. The whistle and bell were sounded at proper times, but the engineer did not discover his inability to get off the track in time to save him and he was struck by the pilot and instantly killed. Letters addressed to him at Indianola were found in his pockets and he was supposed to be en route from there to Collins. He carried a grip and had $3.17 in his pockets, Collins parties have been notified. The county coroner sat on the body here last evening.
