The Ames Watchman

Last Friday A. M., the people of Ames and vicinity were startled at the news of the sudden death of Mrs. Thos. Thompson. Peritonitis was the cause of death. She was forty years of age at the time of her death. Mr. Thompson and family have lived in Ames for some time past, and within the time Mrs. T., has made many friends. She was born in Penn., and from there she went to Odebolt, Iowa, and then to Ames. She leaves a husband and four daughters and one son to mourn her loss, and three children have passed on before her. Her death was that of a christian. The funeral was held at the M. E. church on last Sunday p. m. at 2:30, Rev. Douglass having delivered the sermon. The church was beautifully decorated and her many friends were recognized, by the concourse of weeping and sympathizing friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Ames cemetery to await the glorious resurrection.
