From Story County Watchman September 8, 1893

DIED.--At his home in Union tp. Story Co., Iowa, Sept. 1, 1893, Christian Olinger, aged 68 years. He had been in failing health for over a year, and scacely able to leave home, and during the time was a great sufferer. Mr. O. was born in Knox Co. Tenn., but came to Indiana when youn. From there he came to Iowa, and settled in Story county. For many years he lived near Elwell, and was held in high esteem by his neighbors. He lived two years on Col. Scott's farm north of Nevada. The funeral took place at Elwell on Sabbath, and was conducted by Rev. R. A. Ferguson, of Maxwell. There was a very large attendance, especially of his old neighbors and friends. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his death.
