From Story County Watchman September 9, 1892

Wm. Bailey, of Sherman township, was killed by a fast train on the North-Western railway at the crossing at Colo Monday just after-noon. He attempted to pass ahead of the train withthe result that the wagon was caught, demolished and he killed. The team was shaken up but are all right. This passing just ahead of trains is bad policy in all cases and in some result as above, Too much care cannot be taken in such work.
