From Story County Watchman February 14, 1890

DIED.--January 22nd, 1890, at her home in Colo, Story county, Ia., of acute lung fever, Sister Mina Dayton in the forty fifth year of her age. Her maiden name was Mina Roberts. She was born in the town of Cortland, DeKalb county, Ill. June 6th, 1845. When sixteen years of age she gave her heart to God, was baptized and united with the Free Baptist. June, 6th, 1865, she was united in marriage to C. Milo Dayton. In 1877 Bro. Dayton died leaving an invalid wife with two boys, but blessed be God the christian religion which she embraced in early life sustained her. In 1883 she with her family moved to Colo, Iowa, joined the Methodist Protestant Church. Sister Dayton was a woman of many virtues and her character enriched by the graces of a pure devotional spirit is of great worth to her loved ones still on earth. She was ardently attached to her family, but she cheerfully gave them up recommending them to the Savior. She leaved an aged mother, one brother and two children but they mourn not as those that have no hope. Peace will wreathe her chains around her sleeping dust until the trump shall call it forth to be made immortal. May the consolation of the christian religion linger long around each mourning heart, and its golden finger point them away to that heavenly land where kindred hearts shall be re-united. Sermon by Rev. Gilchrist: Text, Rev. 21-4, after which the body was taken to Ill., and laid to rest beside that of her husband.
