From Story County Watchman October 7, 1887

OBITUARY.--The death of Miss Jennie Elliot, daughter of Freemand Elliot of Richland township, occurred on Wednesday P. M. Sept. 28th, 1887. Her death was th result of a cold contracted in the early spring, which speedily terminated in consumption. The deceased was a bright and intelligent young lady of rare qualities and her death has not only cast a gloom over the family, but over the entire community in which she lived and where she was loved by all who knew her. She was born on her father's farm at Johnson's Grove on the 21st day of Oct. 1869, being nearly 18 years of age. The funeral was very largely attended, and the services were conducted by L. A. Adams, a near neighbor and member of the Baptist church at that place. She was buried from the family residence on Friday at two o'clock P. M. and the remains were placed at rest in Oak Hill cemetery by the side of those of a mother, brother and sister.

For the kindly assistance rendered and sympathy extended by neighbors and friends during the sickness and death of their loved one, Mr. Elliot and family extend heartful thanks.
