From Story County Watchman October 23, 1885
DIED--On the 7th inst. Mrs. Dorothy Loucks, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Martin, in this county. Martha Loucks has been a resident of Story county for twenty years, and by her pure christian life had drawn around her very many true friends who will long remember christian example and motherly examples, for truly she was a mother of Israel.
Her maiden name was Billings.* She was born in the State of New York July 13th, 1803, and was married to George Loucks June 21, 1824, with whom she lived till his decease, some fifteen years ago. Her family consisted of eight children, three sons and five daughters.
For fifty-two years she was a worty member of the M. E. Church; always consistent, always faithful.
Her last illness was brief but attended with great suffering, yet she complained not, but rejoiced in the grace that was able to keep her even in death. S. S. T.
*SUBMITTERS NOTE: In all postings I have found, Dorothy is consistently listed as the daughter of John Bellinger and Anna Eva Zimmerman making her maiden name Bellinger, not Billings.
