From Story County Watchman September 11, 1885
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, Rev. John Francis Brazill, died at his residence in Des Moines. He had been ailing for some time, but it was thought to be nothing serious, and no alarm was felt. He was born in County Clare, Irland, where he left at the age of 18 and took up his abode in this country, the greater part of which time he has spent in Iowa, mainly at Des Moines, where he was almost universally esteemed as one of the brightest and best of the clergy of the Capitol City. His care for his charge was on exemplary one, and will be hard to fill. The funeral was from St. Ambrose chapel Rev. Father Lennehan, of Sioux City officiating, assisted by the most of the prominent catholic clergy in the state. The concourse was one of the largest that has been in that place.
