From Story County Watchman April 4, 1884

Rev. Sage, formerly M. E. Clergyman in this place but now in Boone, had the ill fortune to loose his only daughter Alethea, aged three years on the 3d of April. The funeral services, were conducted by Presiding Elder Curl on Saturday last. The cause of her death was scarlet fever.
