From Story County Watchman October 26, 1883*

DIED.--Died Mrs. Lydia E. Shaffer, wife of James E. Shaffer, died at her mothers house, near Cambridge, Story county, Iowa, June 21st*, 1883, aged 20 years 8 months and one day.

The above was received at this office at five o'clock last evening, and too late to give the poetry and obituary accompanying it. If parties desire anything in this paper, they will please send direct, or see that it is here in due season.

* Submitters note: Obviously, from the last paragraph, this article barely made deadline. Four months after the date of death, it was squeezed in at 5 p. m. the previous night? The date on the paper is accurate. My conjecture is that, when hand written quickly in numerical form, the 10 on the date of death was run together looking like a 6. I believe the correct date of death to be 10/21/1883.
