CATHERINE WHITAKER

daughter of Thomas and Harriett Whittaker, was born near Nevada, Iowa Jan 30, 1875 and departed this life December 15, 1917, aged 42 years 10 months and 15 days.

On October 22, 1901, she was united in marriage to James Ayers to which union was born one daughter, Hazel. At an early age she was converted and united with the Summit United Evangelical church and there remained a member until the time of her death. For more than three years she had been a constant sufferer. At one time she underwent an operation in hopes of regaining her shattered health, but to no avail. For many years she has made her home with her sister, Mrs. O. G. Tichenor, but death claimed her while she was at the home of another sister, Mrs. Mary Tichenor. The tender care she has received in each of these homes is a tribute to our christian civilization. She leaves to mourn their loss her little daughter, Hazel, her aged father, Thomas Whittaker; one brother, Frank Whittaker of Nevada; four sisters, Mrs. Louise Carter of Maxwell, Iowa; Mesdames Mary and Hattie Tichenor of Colo and Mrs. Maggie Coxsworth of Nevada and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the Summit United Evangelical church with Rev. W. C. McKinley officiating and the remains were laid at rest in the Summit cemetery.
