THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, October 13, 2010.

Larry Gelner, Sr., 81, of Charles City went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Larry was born Sept. 10, 1929 at Mason City, the son of Victor and Agnes (Roach) Gelner. He attended school in Hancock County and at Forest City. Larry proudly served in- the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. For 31 years he worked at Oliver/White Farm Company and for many years at the Colwell Co-op. Larry enjoyed spending time with family and attending his many grandchildren's activities. He also enjoyed hobby farming with his many John Deere tractors, playing cards, gambling and junking. He will be greatly missed by his many family members and friends.

Living family members include his wife, Donna of Charles City; five children, Larry (Barb) Gelner, Jr. of Charles City, Valerie (Bill) Biwer, of Charles City, Alan (Sarah) Gelner of Story City, Jeffrey (Carol) Gelner of Charles City and Scott (Eloise) Geiner of Afton, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Robert (Remelda) Gelner of Rudd and Vance (Mavis) Gelner of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and a sister-in-law, Janice (Duane) Colby of Lake Mills.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Sue Ellen; two infant brothers, Tommy Joe and Charles Edward.
