THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, October 13, 2010.

Norman Francis Baldus of Ames passed away October 7, 2010 at Israel Family Hospice House. Visitation was held on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services were held on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St Cecilia's Catholic Church.

Norman was born in Story City, Iowa to Milford J. and Eva (Corbin) Baldus on October 29, 1931. After graduation from Story City High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. Upon completion of military service, he joined a partnership with his brother as owners of Baldus Hatchery and Feeds in Story City. In 1962 he joined Fareway Stores as a meat cutter at Webster City, Charles City, and Ames until his retirement after 29 years.

On November 26, 1955 he married Patricia Durbala. They are the parents of three sons and two daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and his children: Elizabeth (Steven) Collins of Caldwell, Idaho, Brian (Renelda) of Cedar Rapids, Andy of Phoenix, Karen (Stephen) Clemmons of Ames, and Jeffrey (Karol) of Huxley.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Heather and Amy Baldus, of Cedar Rapids, Dillon Baldus of Phoenix, Daniel and Lindsey Baldus of Huxley, and Samantha and Gwendolyn Collins of Caldwell Idaho. He is also survived by his sister, Alma O'Donnell, of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters and a brother.
