THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, November 10, 2010.

Patricia B. McIntosh, 79, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Colonial Manor in Zearing. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at Colo United Methodist Church. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, also at the church. Interment will be in Colo Cemetery

Pat, daughter of Clarence and Sylvia (Elliott) Bump, was born March 22, 1931, in Zearing.

She graduated from Lincoln Township High School in 1949 and went on to Westmar College in Le Mars where she earned an associate’s degree in early childhood education. While working full time, she attended Drake University during summers to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in 1968.

She married John T. McIntosh June 21, 1952, at the Christian Church in Zearing. To this union were born three children, John David, Donald and Rhonda.

She taught school in Colo, Collins and West Marshall for more than 30 years. She was then the first director of the Colo Community Preschool, a role she filled for 25 years.

She took great pride in watching her former students go on and succeed in school and life. She also loved to brag about her grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of United Methodist Church of Colo.

She is survived by one son, John David (Hiroko), of Bremerton, Wash.; her daughter, Rhonda (Mike) Smith, of Ankeny; daughter-in-law, Deborah McIntosh (Frank) Flaherty, of Forest Lake, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald; and her husband, John.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of funeral arrangements.
