From Nevada Representative January 31, 1906

Jens Olson, generally known to his familiars as "Jim," died at this home west of the Northwestern depot Friday and was buried Sunday from the Friends' church by Dr. Bunce. The deceased was a native of Sweden and had been a resident of Nevada the greater part of the time for nearly thirty-five years. He worked on the section east of town. Then for number of years he was flagman at a crossing in Belle Plaine; for the past five or six years he had been badly crippled with rheumatism, and had been at his home here, but was seldom seen downtown. He was 76 years of age, and had been twice married, both his wives being now dead. He leaves two children by his first wife and four by the second, all of them grown or nearly so. His family at home in the last years has consisted of himself and his youngest son and daughter. He was a reliable and most kindly man, and is favorably remembered by all his associates.
