Dorothy Bennett, 93, of Boone, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 703 Arden St., Boone, with the Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating.
Burial will be in Pilot Mound Cemetery, west of Boone. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and at 9 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Boone.
Dorothy, daughter of Charles and Cora Alsever Sorber was born June 29, 1917, in Dallas, S.D. On Oct. 30, 1935, she married George “Buss” Bennett in Gregory, S.D. The couple retired from farming in the Stanhope area.
She held various jobs, including Morton Frozen Foods, Farm Journal, Avon Sales and Woodard Feeds and a dry cleaning route in Dayton. She managed Welcome Wagon at Nevada and was a R.S.V.P. volunteer in Nevada and at Boone County Hospital.
For the past three years, she has resided at the Eastern Star Home in Boone.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years in September 1989; and one daughter, Darlene Trueblood, in April of 1993.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Joy (Leroy) Tegels, of illiford, Ark.; Karen (Lowell) Roney, of Boone; Keith (Bev) Trueblood, of Kingman, Ariz; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eldora Whiton of Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
