OBITUARY - The funeral of Mrs. Emma Jane Maynard, took place from the late home in the south part of the city Saturday, May 12th 1894. Mrs. Maynard whose maiden name was Robinson was born in Story county, Sept. 17th, 1867. She was married Dec. 24th, 1878, to Mr. W. W. Maynard. She became the mother of seven children, three whom have preceeded her to the better life. She was a good and tender mother and wife and her separation from her family is deeply regretted. She was attacked with consumption in the early winter and notwithstanding her brave battle for life whe was compelled to yield to the unavailing. Her peace was made with God however, and many evidences were left of her readiness for the change. Death took place in the evening at 7 o'clock of Thursday, May 10th, 1894. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. J. R. Fegtly. The remains were laid to rest by the tender hands of women in the city cemetery.
