THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, October 19, 2010.
Frances Rinnah Safly, 95, of Ames, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Eastern Star Home in Boone. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at United Methodist Church in Napier, officiated by Pastor Linda Poore. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A fellowship luncheon at the church will be followed by burial in Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.
Frances Rinnah (McKim) Safly was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Nevada, to Ralph and Ella (Smith) McKim. She married Howard K. Safly July 28, 1935, in Nevada. She was a loving mother and friend to all who knew her. She was a member of the Neighborhood Sewing Group, Sorosis Club in Nevada, United Methodist Women’s Group and a longtime member of Napier United Methodist Church. She and her husband enjoyed their children and grandchildren, camping and spending winters on South Padre Island.
She is survived by three sons, Jim (Joyce) and Jack (Julie), both of Ames, and Steve (Karen), of Ridgeway, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Joel, of Fort Myers, Fla., Janet (Brian) Kilmer, of Gilbert, Jason (Ann), of Lenexa, Kan., Scott, of Frasier, Todd (Teresa), of Gilbert, Mathew (Myra), of Ankeny, Mark (Melanie), of North Liberty, and Doug Blomgren (Christine), of Ankeny; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Connie Safly, of Ames.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; two sisters, Sydney Smalldridge and Ellen Herrington; and one granddaughter, Julienne Blomgren.
Memorials may be given to Napier Methodist Church.
Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
