Funeral Services for Mrs. Ellen Carr

(Special to the Journal)

Collins, April 28 - Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Carr, 85, who passed away at her home in Collins Monday April 27 at 5:00 a. m. will be held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. Chas. Neale, pastor of the Collins Church of Christ, in charge. Burial will be on the family lot in Evergreen cemetery by the side of the husband, the late Wyatt Carr, who passed away August 14, 1928.

She came to Iowa with her parents when but a child, making the journey in a covered wagon and settled near Rising Sun, Iowa, then later moved to the Angelo homestead two and one-half miles southeast of Peoria, where she lived until her marriage to William Wyatt Carr, Oct. 8, 1874.

Mr. and Mrs. Carr, early in their married life moved to a farm a mile east of Collins and lived there until two years ago, when she moved into town.

To this union five children were born, all of whom survive. They are Stephen A. of Collins, Olga Ann Holm of Los Angeles, California, John W. of Macon, Missouri, Amos B. of Manchester, Ia., and Chas. R. of Collins. The husband and one granddaughter, Ellen Isilette Holm have preceded her in death.

Surviving relatives, other than her children are three grandchildren, one great grandchild and an aged sister, Mrs. Ann Thompson of Collins.

Mrs. Carr spent the greater part of her life in this community and leaves a host of friends to mourn her passing. She became a member of the Church of Christ when that church was organized in this community and remained faithful to her church until death claimed her.
