THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, October 8, 2010.

Norman Francis Baldus, of Ames, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Stevens Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church.

Norman was born Oct. 29, 1931, in Story City, to Milford J. and Eva (Corbin) Baldus. After graduation from Story City High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Upon completion of military service, he joined a partnership with his brother as owners of Baldus Hatchery and Feeds in Story City. In 1962, he joined Fareway Stores as a meat cutter at Webster City, Charles City and Ames until his retirement after 29 years.

On Nov. 26, 1955, he married Patricia Durbala. They are the parents of three sons and two daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; and his children, Elizabeth (Steven) Collins, of Caldwell, Idaho, Brian (Renelda), of Cedar Rapids, Andy, of Phoenix, Karen (Stephen) Clemmons, of Ames, and Jeffrey (Karol), of Huxley. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Heather and Amy Baldus, of Cedar Rapids, Dillon Baldus, of Phoenix, Daniel and Lindsey Baldus, of Huxley, and Samantha and Gwendolyn Collins, of Caldwell, Idaho; and his sister, Alma O’Donnell, of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
