THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 23, 2010.

Shirley Kingsbury, 86, of Ames, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, at home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Adams Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bliss Cancer Center.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Shirley Kingsbury, 86, of Ames, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Adams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, with Pastor Tom Nesbitt officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Shirley was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Roland, to Joe and Ada (Sorenson) Hill Sr. She married Carl Kingsbury in March 1948, and worked at Donnelly Marketing for 25 years. She enjoyed flea markets, gardening, cooking, scrapbooking, photography, watching birds and squirrels, and coffee and conversations with family and friends.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Dennis, Bruce (Diane), Roger (Freda) and Gary (Cindy); six grandchildren, Jayson (Stacey) Kingsbury, Renee Kingsbury, Amy (Joe) Bottorf, Shawne Kingsbury, Andrew (Sarah) Kingsbury and Megan (Luke) Lobb; great- grandchildren, Brittny, Brayden and Blake Bottorf, and Katelyn and Kyle Kingsbury; sisters, Geneva (Morris) Van Sickle, Joan Egland, Pauline (Mark) Johnson, Lucy Hopkins, Linda (Mike) Halbach and Judy Klein; and brothers, Joe Jr. (Marilyn) Hill, Jake Hill and Dean (Marilyn) Hill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl (Tut) in 1980; son, Richard in 1970; and infant brother, Wayne.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bliss Cancer Center.
