THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 16, 2010.

Michael Dougherty, 59, of Ames, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Dougherty home, 55013 282nd St., Ames, followed by funeral services at 5 p.m. Burial will be in the VA Cemetery, Van Meter.

Michael was born July 20, 1951, in Rochester, N.Y., to Robert and Ruth (McKinley) Dougherty. He married Rita (Eatough) Oct. 15, 1991, in Eugene, Ore. Michael worked in construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boats, cars, camping, cooking and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; three children, Leahla (Garret) Harris, Amanda Dougherty and Sarah Dougherty; one sister, Susan (Jim) Willams, of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
