July 5, 1970-Sept. 6, 2010

Julie Marie Faley, 40, of Dubuque and formerly of Ames, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at home. Services will be at noon Friday, Sept. 10, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dubuque. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, 1670 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, IA, 52002.

Behr Funeral Home of Dubuque is in charge of arrangements.

Julie Marie Faley, 40, of Dubuque, and formerly of Ames, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at home. Services will be at noon Friday, Sept. 10, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dubuque. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Julie was born July 5, 1970, in Dubuque, daughter of Kenneth E. and Mary Rae (Melssen) Broadwell. Julie graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, class of 1988. Her first job was in the toy department at The Walsh Store. Julie was well known at her job at Harley-Davidson in Dubuque and EIMCO in Dyersville. She lastly did title and clerical work at George White Chevrolet in Ames.

She was a former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Ames and a current member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dubuque. She enjoyed doing anything outdoors, especially canoeing, kayaking, climbing and riding her motorcycle. She especially enjoyed being with her family and was a great planner of family affairs. She had a very outgoing personality. Her smile brightened everyone’s day. She always had a positive attitude, even about negative things. She always told Stephanie, “Keep a smile on your face and a song in your heart, and your day will go better.”

She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie M. Duve, of Dubuque; her fiancé, Dan L. Johnsen, of Ames; her parents, Ken and Mary Rae Broadwell, of Dubuque; three siblings, Don (Sue) Broadwell, of Dubuque, Brenda Broadwell, of Dubuque, and Fred (Melissa) Broadwell, of Dubuque; and one nephew and two nieces, Rob, Kristen and Madison.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, 1670 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, IA, 52002.

The family would like to thank Dr. Debra Prow at McFarland Clinic in Ames, the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque, especially Dawn and Megan, and the owners and staff of George White Chevrolet of Ames for their care and concern for Julie.
