ROBISON FUNERAL HELD ON TUESDAY

The funeral services for E.R. Robison, who died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital Saturday, at the home on Tuesday, March 12, at 1 p.m., were in charge of Rev. C.C. Zeigler, pastor of Elwell Evangelical church, but the public services were held at the Evangelical church at Iowa Center at 2 p.m. under the direction of Rev. C.C. Miner, pastor assisted by Rev. C.G. Zeigler of Maxwell and Rev. Charles Pickford of Nevada, the latter preaching the sermon.

There was a male quartette that sang two selections and a duet by two ladies.

There was a large attendance at the services. Interment was made in the Evergreen cemetery at Iowa Center.

Ellsworth Roland Robison, pioneer of Indian Creek township, was born July 9, 1862 at Iowa Center and departed this life at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, Saturday morning, March 9, 1929, age 66 years 8 months.

He was united in marriage with Mattie Whitaker (1), April 4, 1888 to which union were born four children two of whom died in infancy [and] Mrs. Roscoe Longnecker(2) and Clay Robison.

Mr. Robison was a man among men, having a wide acquaintance and many warm friends who sought his counsel in many things. He had a record for integrity and honesty in his business dealings, always being prompt in meeting his engagements and obligations.

In November of 1928 he was stricken with a malady which proved to be cancer of the stomach, and in spite of all that medical skill and loving hands could do, it was realized that he could not recover, so that after four months of illness, during which he suffered much, yet was very patient in it all until the end came. Some time before his death he spoke to his companion of his hope of a better home where there would be no suffering.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife Mattie R., two children, Mrs. Longnecker and Clay Robison, two sisters Mrs. Emma Maxwell of Maxwell and Mrs. Fannie Proctor of Nevada, four brothers, George G. of Charles City, Chas. Of Nevada, Edwin of Long Beach, Cal., and Robert A. of Nevada. A large number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

E.R. Robison, native and pioneer of Indian Creek township, near Maxwell, Iowa, passed away at the Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, after a protracted illness, caused by cancer of the stomach. He was 66 years old and for many ears had been a heavy shipper of live stock, being well known at Chicago. Funeral services were held from the Evangelical church at Iowa Center and interment was in the family burial plot at the cemetery. Rev. Charles Pickford of Nevada delivered the sermon. In his home community he was a man among men, having wide acquaintance and many warm friends who sought his wise counsel, which he practiced himself. He leaves a widow, who was Mattie Whitaker, and to whom he was married April 4, 1888. To this union were born four childen, two dying in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. Roscoe Longnecker of Maxwell, and Clay, still at home. Besides the two children above mentioned he leaves also two sisters, Mrs. Emma Maxwell of Maxwell; Mrs. Fannie Proctor of Nevada; four brothers, Geo. G. Robinson[sic] of Charles City; Charles Robinson[sic], near Nevada; Edwin H. Robison of Long Beach, Cal., and Robert A. Robison of Nevada. By his industry and frugal economy he accumulated a goodly share of this world’s goods and leaves a comfortable home for the loved ones.

PROMINENT FARMER OF INDIAN CREEK TOWNSHIP WAS VICTIM OF CANCER

E.R. Robison, 67, of Indian Creek township died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, at an early hour Saturday morning from the effects of cancer.

Mr. Robison had been ill since early in December, was taken to the hospital, where he submitted to an operation. Showing some indication of recovery he was returned to his home. It was not long however, until it was evident that he was not recovering as had been hoped for and he was returned to the hospital three weeks ago Saturday.

The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 at the church in Iowa Center, after which the body will be interred in the family lot in Evergreen cemetery at that place.

Ellsworth Roland Robison, born in Indian Creek township July 9, 1861, a son of Robert Alexander and Nancy Greer-Robison, had been a resident of that township throughout his life.

He spent his youth at home upon the farm and in the public schools and was married April 4, 1888 to Miss Martha Whitaker, a neighbor girl. Two of the four children born to Mr. And Mrs. Robison, with the mother, survive him. They are Edith who is the wife of Rosco Longnecker of a farm nearby the old homestead, and Clay A. Robison, who has been at home.

He leaves also four brothers, Bert and Charles of Nevada, George of Charles City, and Ed of Long Beach, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Warren Maxwell of Maxwell.

Early in life Mr. Robison purchased an eight acres of land and to this he added until the "Buz" Robison farm was one of the best in that part of the country.

He had long been recognized as one of the leading stock feeders and farmers of the count.

A member of one of the oldest families in the county has had a wide and favorable acquaintance.

In addition to the long suffering of the husband and father, which terminated with his death Saturday, both Mrs. Robison and the son have been laid up. Mrs. Robison, at the hospital with her husband has been suffering from an injury which she sustained in a fall upon the ice. She was unable to return to her home at the time of the death of the husband.

The son Clay has been at Iowa sanitarium, this city, suffering from a severe attack of rheumatism. He will be taken home Tuedsay morning, however, that he may view the body of his father before it is taken away for the funeral and interment.
