Charles E. Hagen Sr., 61, died of cancer Wednesday at North Grand Care Center. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct 28, at Adams Funeral Home, with the Rev. Galen E. Peckham of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Charles Hagen was born in Story County to Elmer O. and Faye (Kuhn) Dorsey (should be Hagen). He attended Ames schools and moved to California in 1968. In recent years he moved back to Ames. He was a veteran who served from March 20, 1945, until May 19, 1946.

His memberships included Ames Post #37 of the American Legion.

Survivors include his mother, Fay Dorsey of the North Grand Care Center; two sons, Charles E. of Boone and Rick of North Carolina; three daughters, Barbara Rush of Nevada, Lee Ann Webb of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jeanette Scherer of Bartlesville, Okla; two brothers, Tunney Hagen of Raska (Chaska), Minn, and Donald Hagen of Bellevue, Neb.; three sisters, Connie Rasmussen and Sari Olson, both of Ames, and Alberta Kennedy of Kelley; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1945, and one son, James in 1969.

Friends may call tonight, Thursday, at Adams Funeral Home.
