Donald G. Johnson, 91, of Story City died July 14, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.

Don was born February 17, 1919 in Story City to Lew S. and Mamie (Sheldahl) Johnson. He married Mazel Thorson on December 10, 1936. She died May 20, 2007.

Don lived most of his life in the Story City area. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and farmed for over 60 years. He enjoyed talking to people and spending his winters in Arizona for over 40 years.

Don is survived by two sons, Gary (Marion) and Steve (Marcy) both of Story City; a daughter, Charlene Keltner of Lake Mills; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a great grandchild; and two sisters-in-law, Joyce Johnson and Ione Lenning.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers Gaylord and Luane; and three sisters, Lilly Eckstrom, Alice Abelson and Irene Jones.

Visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Soderstrum Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
