THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, July 17, 2010.

Surrounded by people she loved, CoCo Marie Zenger, age 17 months, died July 7, 2010. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames.

Her short life began on Jan. 21, 2009. She was three months premature and had three holes in her heart. The odds were stacked against her, but CoCo persevered. Weighing 1 pound 3 ounces, an inch and a half shorter than your standard school house ruler, CoCo began to teach us what true beauty is. Her will outweighed her struggles. Her smiles inspired hope, and her eyes told us that she saw good all around her.

CoCo is survived by many … her mother, Victoria, her father, Brandon, and her brothers, Dakota and Hunter Zenger; her grandparents, Anna and Richard Cunningham, Bill and Marla Zenger, and Dona Maeder; her NICU family, Clarice, Jan, Wendy, Missy, Crystal, Kimberly, Megan, Laura, Shelly, Wendy F., Wahlig, Murphy, Katz, Bahvsar, Fong, Reinsvold, Ellsbury and so many more.

With tiny hands, CoCo reached out to us all. As her hand touched our cheek she filled our hearts and enabled us to see how beautiful she was. She enabled us to see the beauty that exists all around us.

Thank you to all of you who have cried, lived, laughed and loved with us.
