Nevada Representative, Wednesday, February 19th, 1896
----
Marcia P. Grant was born in the western part of New York, July 4th, 1831; was married to Alfred Hall near Oshkosh, Wis., March 1st, 1850; removed from Wisconsin to Mechanicsville, Ia., in the spring of 1866; and from there to Colo, Ia., July 1867, which place continued to be her home until her life closed, Monday, February 10th, 1896. Her husband died May 23rd, 1872. Four children were born to them: Mrs. J.W. Kinsell and Charles M. Hall of Colo, Ia., Mrs. Clara E Keeley of Portland Oregon; and Nellie, the youngest, who died in 1882. For the past fifteen years Mrs. Hall’s home has been with her daughter, Mrs. Kinsell. Her fatal illness, which lasted but a week, occurred when she was visiting her grand daughter, Mrs. Bessey Manchester, at Dunlap, Iowa. Her malady, pneumonia, seemed yielding to medical skill and tender care, when heart failure set in, and her soul passed, without struggle. On the evening of Tuesday, the 11th, Mrs. Kinsell accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Manchester, returned to Colo with the remains, where they were received by a large gathering of sympathizing friends. Funeral service was conducted in the M.E. Church at 1:30, February 11th, by Rev. Jno. Elliott, assisted by Rev. A.W. Gilchrist; and in the final rest is beside that of her husband and daughter in the Colo Cemetery. Grandma Hall, as she was commonly called, was a faithful and consistent member of the M.E. Church, and pattern worthy of imitation. She was kind and forbearing; and during the 28 years of her residence in Colo, her relation to her neighbors was uniformly pleasant. She gave unstinted service to those about her, regardless of her own comfort and pleasure. Her faith was firm and abiding; her prayers for her loved ones unceasing; and her confidence unshaken that of the lord, in his own good time, would answer her petitions. The family mourn a kind, patient, loving mother who has made the world better by her life and example.
