THE TRI-COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, June 17, 2010.

Edward C. Ryan, 92, of Ankeny, passed away on June 13th, 2010 at Mercy Medical center in Des Moines.

A funeral service will be held 10:30a.m., Friday, June 18th, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 517 S.W. Des Moines street, in Ankeny, with burial following at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Edward was born in Huxley, Iowa, February 12, 1918. He graduated from Iowa State University, where he was also a pitcher on the baseball team. He served his country as a pilot in the Army Air Corp during World War II. On November 1, 1944, he married Stella Chelsvig, and together had 4 children. Ed worked as an agricultural engineer for John Deere for 32 years before retiring. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed working on his golf game.

Ed will be missed by his beloved wife, Stella, his children; Steve Ryan (Nola), of Ankeny, Linda Fawcett (Dick), of Huxley, and Tim Ryan, of Fort Dodge, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Laverne Ryan. He was preceded in death by his son, Dan Ryan, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

A visitation will be held 6 to 8:00p.m., Thursday, June 17th, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, in Ankeny. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of which he was a faithful member for 54 years.

Memorial Services of Iowa, in Ankeny, handled arrangements.
