Orland Stensland, 91, of rural Ames, died Monday, May 17, at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

He was born March 10, 1919, in Huxley to Tom and Olivia (Halverson) Stensland. He graduated from Huxley High School. He married Pauline Berrett on June 23, 1940, and they farmed near Huxley until 1983. They continued farming when they moved to the Ames area. He was a lifelong member of the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline of Ames; three sons, David (Joan) of Ames, Ron (Virginia) of Ames and Tom (Diana) of Cambridge; a brother, Victor Stensland of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, Jeff Orland Stensland, Julie Schrader, Rhonda Lough, Renae Gatewood and Jessica Larson; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 21 at 1 p.m. at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Maybee officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, May 20, from 5-7 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, Ames. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.
