THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, May 11, 2010.

Janet Marie Lindgren, 70, of Story City, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 17, in Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

Visitation of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Janet Marie Lindgren was born March 7, 1940, to Clarence and Marguerite (Rahfeldt) Mehlow. She married Mark Lindgren Nov. 2, 1974. She owned Creation flower shop for 17 years, owned and operated The Way bookstore for 42 years, and helped operate the Food Pantry for 25 years. She enjoyed crafts, flower arranging and collecting Precious Moments.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Lindgren, of Story City; one daughter, Joyce (Gary) Stewart, of Rogers, Ark.; one son, Christopher Mark (Amanda) Lindgren, of Washburn, Mo.; three stepchildren, Gloria Torabane, of Storm Lake, Randy Lindgren, of Fairbault, Minn., and Debra Stewart, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; one sister, Debbie Yokiel, of Ames; one brother, Clarence Mehlow, of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janet’s name to the Story City Food Pantry or Israel Family Hospice House of Ames.
