Sandy Arthur, 58, of Roland, died Friday, May 7, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services are pending with Soderstrum Funeral Homes.

Sandy Arthur, 58, of Roland died May 7, 2010, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday May 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Sandy was born April 30, 1952 in Russell, Kan., to James W. and Beverly (Gnuschke) Madison. She married John Arthur on April 24, 1971. She did in-home day care at her home for more than 30 years. She was active in Roland Kiwanis, Roland American Legion Auxiliary and at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed poetry, reading, gardening and having tea parties with her granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband, John, of Roland; one daughter, Stephanie Wieland, of Dubuque; one son Steven (Niccole) Arthur, of Randall; six granddaughters; her mother, Beverly Bruhl, of Salina, Kan.; one brother, Richard Madison; and three sisters, Linda Reyes, Cheryl Horstman and Teresa Perez.

She was preceded in death by her father.
