DEATH TAKES OLE CHRISTOPHERSON

DIED AT HIS HOME FOLLOWING ILLNESS OF A YEAR

Ole Christopherson died at his home Friday evening at 9:50 o'clock at the age of 79 years, one month and two days. He had been in failing health for the past year, but had been able to wait until two weeks ago, when he became bedfast. His death was due to carcinoma.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the home and at Salem church, Rev. Olaf Holen officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery at Radcliffe, his former home. The pall bearers were L. B. Selvig, Ole Wierson, Carl Solberg, T. I. Sampson, B. J. Solyst and Ben Stevens.

Mr. Christopherson was born at Kvinherrad, Norway, August 6, 1854, and at the age of 19 years came to America and settled at Lisbon, Ill., where he was married to Martha Hatteberg February 22, 1878.

He came to Iowa in 1884, locating on a farm near Story City. In 1893 he purchased a farm near Radcliffe, living there until 1913, when he came to Roland, residing on a farm west of town and later moving to his present home in Roland.

He was a good father and a kind neighbor, truthful and upright in all his dealings with his fellowmen. His wife passed away 33 years ago and he was left with the care of ten children, four of whom have preceded him in death, Emma, Chris, Lewis and Henry. The following are left to mourn his death, Mrs. T. J. Valen of Webster City, Martin of Yakima, Wash., Alfred of Story City, Mrs. O. J. Haney of Independence, Mrs. C. I. Oswood of Hansell, and Mrs. M. P. Winters of Glen Ellyn, Ill.

He also leaves 21 grandchildren and one great grandchild, a brother, Ole Christopherson of Mason City, and two sisters, one living in Norway and Miss Hannah Christopherson, who has made her home with and cared for him since the passing of his wife 33 years ago.

Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Valen and children Phyllis, Iva, Talmadge and Ethelyn, of Webster City; Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Haney, Robert and Richard, of Independence; Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Oswood, Ladona, Betty and Jay, of Hansell; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Christopherson, Milo, Kathryn, Lee, Lyle and John, of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Olson and two children, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Olson and child, of Lisbon, Ill., and a number of fiends from Radcliffe, Garden City, and other neighboring towns.
