M. Arlene Konrady, 77, of Ames, died of complications of Alzheimer’s disease Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester, Minn. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames, with Father James Secora presiding. Burial will follow in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 30, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
Mary Arlene Konrady was born Sept. 13, 1932, in Des Moines, to Russell and Rose (Keenan) Daniels. She graduated from St. Cecilia Grade School in 1946 and Ames High School in 1950. She married Howard L. Konrady May 5, 1951, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
After raising her family, she was the financial manager at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield from 1968 to1988. She sold real estate for Friedrich Iowa Realty from 1988 to 2000.
She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was an active participant in establishing perpetual Eucharistic adoration at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She loved her family, friends and all people. Her hobbies included reading and playing bridge.
She is survived by four Konrady sons, Nick (Sandy), of Stewartville, Minn., Dan, of Ames, Paul (Paula), of Kenmore, Wash., and Phil (Laura), of Eldridge; three daughters, Rose (Jerry) Acker, of Coon Rapids, Minn., Mary (Daren) Gangelhoff, of Eagan, Minn., and Carol (Mark) Wilson, of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, LaVonne Ekren, of Redmond, Wash., and Joann (Ron) Proctor, of Bayside, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
