Death of Hamilton County Pioneer

Mrs. Andrew Christiansen (Tjernagel) passed away at her home seven miles northwest of here on Sunday, January 7th at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 20 days, having been born in Illinois, July 17, 1842. Her maiden name was Julia Nelson and was united in marriage to Andrew Christianson in 1860 and the same year came to Hamilton county settling on the farm which has since been their home. The cause of her demise was a cancer, from which she suffered but never uttered a word of complaint, being content to know that when her suffering here ended she would inherit the kingdom of our Savior.

Besides her husband she leaves four daughters, Mrs. Ben Henderson, Mrs. Andrew Henderson, Mrs. Andrew Christianson, all of Randall, and Mrs. Peer Christianson of Rake and numerous other relatives.

The funeral was conducted from North St. Petri church on Wednesday, the sermon being preached by Rev. H. Halverson, of Story City, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery located on the Christianson farm. The funeral was largely attended by friends from near and far who wished to pay their last respects to a pioneer resident of the county.
