McCallsburg Man Killed Last Week

Well-Known Business Man of McCallsburg Killed by Blow on Back From Heavy Timber - Lived Two Days After Accident

While assisting some carpenters in tearing out the end of a barn on his farm east of McCallsburg last Wednesday afternoon, P. C. Hanson of McCallsburg was hurt so badly that he died from his wounds within a couple of days. The workmen were tearing out the end of the large barn, when they gave a warning to Mr. Hanson to get away from the building as it appeared to them to be falling. He started to run away, but a beam struck him across the back, knocking him to the ground. Medical aid was sent for at once, but they soon round that nothing could be done to save him, as the lower limbs were paralyzed and he was otherwise injured internally. He was carried to his home the same evening on a cot, where he suffered until Saturday morning, when he passed away.

Mr. Hanson was about 65 years of age and had lived in McCallsburg for many years, having been one of the leading lumber and grain dealers at that place for many years. He leaves a large family of grown children and numerous friends to mourn his sudden demise.
