Jacob Thompson Passes Away

After a Severe Attack of Appendicitis, He Answers the Final Summons

Jacob Thompson was born on the farm, now occupied by L. E. Quam, on March 26, 1871 and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. A. B. Anderson, on Monday, August 5, 1907, being 36 years, 4 months and 9 days at the time of his death. He was taken sick about a month ago, but was able to be around until a week ago when he became too ill to be up. He had an attack of appendicitis, but he seemed to be getting somewhat better when he had an attack of heart failure after which he passed quietly away.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Thompson, of this place, and was a quiet and unassuming young man, highly respected by all who knew him.

He always lived in this community until three years ago, when he and a brother, Andrew, who died two years ago from appendicitis, moved to a farm ten miles southeast of here. Since that time he has made his home there and at the A. B. Anderson home.

He leaves a father, mother, two brothers and four sisters, besides numerous other relatives to mourn his death.

The funeral was held from Bergen church, Wednesday, Rev. L. Sherven, of Story City, officiated, after which interment took place in the Roland cemetery. The sorrowing ones have the sympathy of a large host of friends.
