THE NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, April 15, 2010.

Stanley P. Blake, 82, of Wapello, passed away peacefully Friday, April 9, 2010, at Wapello Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Services were held Wednesday, April 14, at Calvary Church. Pastor Dan Schoepf officiated. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Nevada, Iowa.

He was born April 21, 1927, in Muscatine, the son of Ollie Theodore and Dorothy May Zimmerman Blake.

He married Mary Charlisia Godfrey on January 13, 1951, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

He was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from the service as a technical sergeant on October 31, 1966.

He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, and gardening. He loved his dog, Bingo.

Those left to honor his memory include two sisters, Elaine Reid and husband John of Letts and Lois Jean Smith of Muscatine and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2003, brothers Ollie and Donald, and sisters Erma Newton and Lavella Edgington.
