William Harold Baker, 91, of Nevada, died of heart failure on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. He was born April 22, 1910, in Story County to Nara and Cordelia (Davis) Baker. He married Marjorie M. Hostetler on May 20, 1939, in Adel. He was a farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active with the Senior Citizen Center in Nevada. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending church and playing cards. He was a lifelong resident of Story County.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie Hand of Nevada; a sister, Margaret Brooks of Nevada; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie on Nov. 20, 1978; and two sisters, Esther Taylor and Beulah Gimzo.
Visitation is today (Jan. 17) after 3 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Nevada.
