Neva Morris, 114, of Ames, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Northcrest Retirement Community. Arrangements are pending with Adams Funeral Home.

Neva Morris, 114, died Tuesday, April 6. Her memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Northcrest Community in Ames. Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Neva Morris, 114, of Ames, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Northcrest Health Care Center. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10, in the Green Room at Northcrest, with the Rev. Linda Butler, of Collegiate United Methodist Church, officiating.

Neva was born Aug. 3, 1895, in Ames, to Schyler and Cambri (McConkey) Freed. She married Edward L. Morris Dec. 30, 1914, in Nevada. She was the oldest person living in the United States.

She was a 90-year member of Order of the Eastern Star and a member of P.E.O. and the Story County Chorus.

She is survived by one son, Walter (Liz) Morris, of Sioux City; one son-in-law, Tom Wickersham, of Ames; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 8, 1960; two daughters, Mary Jane Wickersham on Jan. 1, 1983, and Bettilee Ammon; one son, Leslee E. Morris on Dec. 27, 1991; one grandson, Ted Ammon; one sister; and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice or Northcrest Care Center.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
