THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, April 6, 2010.

Alice Irene (Roosevelt) Dougherty, 88, of Clarion, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 9, at United Presbyterian Church in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., in Clarion, and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church.

Irene was the cherished wife of Dale Dougherty for 68 years and was a member of the Clarion community since her birth Dec. 17, 1921. In December 2007, Dale and Irene moved to an assisted living center in Ames to be near their son, David. She was the daughter of Dr. Theodore and Dotsie Soults Roosevelt. Irene’s sister, Ruth Bunn, passed away in early May 2009 at the age of 96. Irene was very active in Clarion United Presbyterian Church and was a member of Chapter FS of P.E.O.

She is survived by her husband, Dale, a longtime Clarion banker, and their four children, Diane (Tom) McNulty, of Naples, Fla., Mike (Jackie) Dougherty, of Aurora, Colo., Linda (Steve) Foltz, of Nashotah, Wis., and David (Charlotte) Dougherty, of Ames. She also has six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial gifts may be sent to Clarion United Presbyterian Church, Wright County Medical Center, and/or Ames Homeward Hospice.
