OBITUARY

Dorethea Gurina (Julia) Sime, nee Larson, was born May 4, 1873 at Vik, Norway, At the age of one she came to this country, residing in Story county, Iowa for several years. From here her family moved to Hardin county. Here on March 25, 1893, she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Sime. They lived in this community until the family moved to Martin county, Minn., in the year 1918 where they made their home near Fairmont.

Mrs. Sime was baptized in the Lutheran faith before leaving Norway. She was confirmed in Story county by Rev. C. C. Holter. Before moving to Minnesota, the family held membership in the Zion Lutheran church northeast of Roland.

Mrs. Sime, together with her family, was actively interested in the new Grace Lutheran church which was organized in Fairmong, Minn., in September 1928, becoming a charter member of the new congregation. She was also a charter member of the Women's Guild of the church and took an important part in its work, being vice president at the time of her death.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Thomas J. Sime, and eight children: Ida, Mrs. T. E. Thompson of Radcliffe; Irven of Belmond; Josias of Fairmont, Minn., Telmer of Rolfe; Ernest, Myron and Russel of Fairmont, Minn. She is survived by three brothers and two sisters: Joe Larson of Story City; Louis and Isaac Larson of Radcliffe; Helen - Mrs. Hilmer Harris of Hubbard, and Miss Emma Larson, a missionary worker who live in Minneapolis, Minn. One sister, Malinda, died April 20, 1921. After a rather brief illness, Mrs. Sime died on April 21, 1933, death resulting from pneumonia. She attained the age of 59 years, 11 months and 17 days.

Funeral services took place April 23, from the home in Rolling Green township, near Fairmont, at 2:30 p. m., and at Grace Lutheran church in Fairmont at 3 p. m., Rev. O. B. Endresen officiating. On Monday, April 24, funeral services were also held at the Zion Lutheran church northeast of Roland. Rev. Endresen preached ni the English language and Rev. H. N. Bakke, pastor of Zion church, preached in the Norwegian language. Interment was made in the Zion cemetery beside the church. A number of gifts to Home Missions and Jewish Missions were given in memory of Mrs. Sime, who, while she lived, was much interested in the cause of missions.
