NEVADA – Milton “Milt” Wade Mohr, 97, of Nevada and formerly of Maxwell, died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Maxwell United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Woodland Cemetery at Iowa Center.

Milt was born September 20, 1912 at Guernsey, Iowa, the son of Oliver and Edith (Wade) Mohr. When Milt was a young boy, his family moved to Minnesota where Milt attended school and graduated from the Windom High School in 1931. He was united in marriage to Florence Beatrice Johnson in Spirit Lake, Iowa on June 16, 1934. Together they had five children: Barbara, Marlene, Eugene “Sonny”, Eleanor “Toots”, and Elaine. Florence passed away April 17, 2000. Milt later married Adelle Elizabeth Catlin Capps on December 8, 2003 at the Regency in Nevada, Iowa. He gained two more children in this marriage, William (Karen) Capps of St. Charles, MO, and Mary (Mark) Ambrose of Nevada, IA.

Milt was a farmer and a member of the Maxwell United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Isaac Walton League, the Oddfellows Lodge, and had served on the Iowa Center and Maxwell School boards. Milt loved to fish in Minnesota (and any place that had fish), shoot pool, polish rocks, working jig-saw puzzles, and traveling. Milt loved his family, faith and friends, but he was especially proud of his great-great-grandchildren.

Milt is survived by his wife, Adelle of Nevada, IA; a son: Eugene “Sonny” (Vieve) Mohr of Nevada, IA; four daughters: Barbara Joan (Linden) Caple of Maxwell, IA, Marlene Wilma (Samuel) Carlson of Arlington, TX, Eleanor Annette “Toots” (Bob) Ostrich of Apache Junction, AZ, Elaine Marie Mohr of Maxwell, IA; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and his sister: Betty (Richard) Doyel of Grants Pass, Oregon.

Memorials may be made to the Maxwell United Methodist Church, the Maxwell Area Community Center, and the Israel Family Hospice House.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell handled arrangements.
