THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, March 16, 2010.

Milton “Milt” Wade Mohr, 97, of Nevada and formerly of Maxwell, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Maxwell United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.

Milt was born Sept. 20, 1912, at Guernsey, the son of Oliver and Edith (Wade) Mohr. When Milt was a young boy, his family moved to Minnesota where he attended school and graduated from Windom High School in 1931. He was united in marriage to Florence Beatrice Johnson in Spirit Lake on June 16, 1934. Together they had five children, Barbara, Marlene, Eugene “Sonny,” Eleanor “Toots,” and Elaine. Florence passed away April 17, 2000. Milt later married Adelle Elizabeth Catlin Capps on Dec. 8, 2003, at the Regency in Nevada. He gained two more children in this marriage, William (Karen) Capps, of St. Charles, Mo., and Mary (Mark) Ambrose, of Nevada.

He was a farmer and a member of Maxwell United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Izaak Walton League, the Oddfellows Lodge, and had served on the Iowa Center and Maxwell school boards. He loved to fish in Minnesota (and any place that had fish), shoot pool, polish rocks, working jig-saw puzzles, and traveling. He loved his family, faith and friends, but he was especially proud of his great-great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Adelle, of Nevada; one son, Eugene “Sonny” (Vieve) Mohr, of Nevada; four daughters, Barbara Joan (Linden) Caple, of Maxwell, Marlene Wilma (Samuel) Carlson, of Arlington, Texas, Eleanor Annette “Toots” (Bob) Ostrich, of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Elaine Marie Mohr, of Maxwell; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty (Richard) Doyel, of Grants Pass, Ore.

Memorials may be made to Maxwell United Methodist Church, Maxwell Area Community Center and Israel Family Hospice House.

Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is in charge of arrangements.
