MRS. IVER GOODMANSON
Mrs. Iver Goodmanson (nee Martha Nessa) was born Feburary 2, 1863, near Stavanger, Norway, and died at her home northeast of Roland August 9, 1932, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 7 days.
At the age of 16 years she came to America, first to Norway, Iowa, and soon after to Roland. In 1881 she was married to Iver Goodmandson and to this union six children were born, one of whom died in infancy. The five who survive their mother are, Goodman Goodmanson of Bemidji, Minn., Rev. Thomas A. Goodmanson of Slayton, Minn., Arthur Goodmanson of Gilbert, Mrs. Elma Knudtson of Blue Earth, Minn., and Irvin Goodmanson of Roland. She is survived by 25 grandchildren and three brothers and one sister, Ole Nessa of Lake Mills, John Nessa of North Dakota, and Michael Nessa of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Norem in Canada.
The funeral was held Friday August 12, from the home at 1:30 and from the Zion church at 2:00. In spite of rain and somewhat poor roads, a large audience was present. The floral offerings were beautiful. The Ladies Aid of the church gave a sum of money to missions in her memory.
The church choir rendered two selections and Randall Hatteberg sang a solo. A sermon on "Resurrection" was preached by the pastor, Rev. H. N. Bakke. Her son, Rev. T. A. Goodmanson, gave a few well chosen remarks.
The pall bearers were O. K. Johnson, Ole Jacobson, Ed Anderson, Halvor Tjelmeland, Geo. Ness and Jim Hatteberg. The remains were interred in Zion church cemetery.
Those from a distance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. G. I. Goodmanson and Dorothy of Bemidji, Minn., Rev. and Mrs. T. A. Goodmanson and family of Slayton, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. John T. Johnson, Mrs. T. Nessa and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nessa of Eagle Grove, Ole Nessa of Lake Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Knudtson and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Porter Kjossem of Marshalltown, Mrs. Lars Carlson and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Twedt of LeGrand, and Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Knudtson and family of Blue Earth, Minn.
