The Nevada Representative, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, April 9, 1879.

Obituary

Mrs. Mary E. Danskin, wife of Geo. Danskin of Sherman township, this county, after a painful suffering of about six or seven months gave birth to twins on Tuesday the 1st inst. and departed this life on the 2d.

Mrs. Danskin was born in Whitesboro, Oneida county, N. Y., March 3d, 1838, and at the age of 13 was united with the Church of Christ. On the 7th of May, 1857, she was married, and in seven years thereafter removed to Illinois thence in 1867, to Colo, Story county, when they removed to a farm about a mile and a half north of town where the family lived for six years. From that farm Mr. Danskin moved upon another farm some three miles farther north, where he resided till last March, when he returned to a farm near his old home two miles north of Colo, and where Mrs. Danskin much preferred to live. One year after the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Danskin in Iowa, they united themselves with the Lutheran church, then under the pastorate of Rev. Mr. Beckley, and continued within its pale, beloved and respected members till the death of Mrs. Danskin. Cheerful, unobtrusive, and somewhat retiring in her manner, yet her earnest christian character, her generous hospitality, and her kindness to all, won her many dear friends, who were untiring in their devotion to her during her illness. She leaves a husband and large family to mourn her loss; but she died as she lived, strong in her faith in her Savior, and it is a blessed comfort to them that she isn ow at rest from pain and sorrow; that she has only gone before.

"Of her bright face one glance will trace,
A picture on the brain,
And of her voice in echoing hearts,
A sound must long remain,
But memory, such as mine of her,
So very much endears,
When death is nigh, my intest sigh
Will not be life's but hers."
