DEATH OF MRS. LANGLAND

Mrs. Ellen Christina Langland was born of the parents Osten and Bertha Flygstad, August 15, 1844, at Saude, Stavanger, Norway. She was the youngest of three children. A brother and sister preceded her in death. After a week's illness of bronchitis brought on by advanced age, she passed away at her home five miles north of Jewell on Thursday, February 25, being 87 years, 6 months and 9 days.

The deceased came to America in the month of May 1880, settling first in Story county for two years. She has lived in the vicinity of Jewell since the year 1882 and at the present home north of Jewell for 47 years. She was married to Engemond E. Langland the fall of 1880. Three children were born to this union; two passing away in childhood. Oscar Langland of Jewell is the only one to survive his parents. His father passed away about four years ago.

Funeral services were held Monday last week at the home and at the church with the Rev. Carl Opsahl officiating. At the church Mrs. John O. L. Johnson sang a solo and music was also furnished by Misses Ovella Satre and Thema Teig with Mrs. Harry Harmon accompanying. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery. The pall bearers were S. T. Greenfield, H. Denekas, Andrew Westre, Hans Hanson, J. B. Thompson and Severt Rullestad.

Those from Roland in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Hannah Hovde, Betsey Evans, Inger Winterhus, Erick and Tom Evans.
